Shopee University Inspires Budding ‘Mom-preneurs’

In line with its aspirations to empower and celebrate women, Shopee, the mobile-first shopping platform, offered mothers an exclusive opportunity to learn about m-commerce while taking a break from their hectic schedules.

Dozens of mothers of all ages, both existing and aspiring entrepreneurs, gathered at a “Mighty Moms” workshop conducted by Shopee to gain insights and share their experiences on how to run a successful online business.

“We want to open up avenues for more women, especially mothers, to run their own online businesses. Shopee offers an easy, secure and fuss-free platform for sellers, making it easy to start an online business with minimal hassle,” explained Ian Ho, Regional Managing Director of Shopee.

In addition to educating the mothers on how they could join Shopee’s growing family of sellers, the session also included sharing of experiences by entrepreneur Alecia Heng from Gorgeous Geeks, and Shopee’s own mom-preneur.

“Online businesses are a great way for women, especially mothers who are concerned about spending time at home with their children, to earn an income or supplement their existing incomes. I’m happy to be part of this initiative by Shopee University, to encourage and empower more mothers to be part of the rapidly-growing online business landscape,” commented Alecia at the event.
In conjunction with Mother’s Day, the mothers were treated to a stress-free sumptuous lunch spread plus an express manicure, while their children were taken care of by babysitters at the playground area throughout the event.
