Beko-PUBC Junior Foundation Gets Fund Injection

Beko, the number one freestanding home appliance brand in Europe, has injected an additional fund of RM60,000 into the Beko-PUBC Junior Foundation to support badminton and youth development in Malaysia.

The fund was officially presented by Chan Lock, Chief Executive Officer of Beko Appliances Malaysia Sdn Bhd to Irina Inozemtseva, Team Manager of Puchong United Badminton Club (PUBC) in a mock cheque presentation ceremony.

The Beko-PUBC Junior Foundation was launched on 21 September 2016 when PUBC secured Beko as a main sponsor for the 2016/2017 season. Utilizing Beko’s financial support and PUBC’s competitive badminton sports management, the Beko-PUBC Junior Foundation was established to provide badminton trainings for children from the age of 6 to 18 years old.


Chan Lock said “The Beko-PUBC Junior Foundation is established as a contributor to the sports and youth development in Malaysia. Beko and PUBC share a vision to encourage the young generation to engage in badminton to lead a healthy lifestyle, build their physical and mental aptitude to achieve success in life, cultivate their sportsmanship spirit, and be inspired to be a sportsperson for Malaysia.”

Chan Lock added “The Beko-PUBC Junior Foundation is an excellent platform to demonstrate Beko as the “Official Partner of the Everyday”. Beko home appliance products are developed to support homes and families so that they can enjoy their everyday lives, including living a healthy lifestyle.”

Irina Inozemtseva, Team Manager of PUBC, said “The young generation are the future leaders of our country. Therefore, as a club which has successfully managed teams of global top ranking badminton players and coaches for world-class competitions, we feel it is important to organise capability building programmes, to cultivate a new generation of athletes who could rise to global prominence for Malaysia. We are pleased that the Beko-PUBC Junior Foundation programme has also built friendships, discipline and teamwork among the young participants, which are beneficial in their personal growth.”

A total of 50 children have been undergoing a programme of boot camps and weekly badminton trainings with PUBC coaches since December 2016. The additional fund will be utilized for advanced badminton training until July 2017. Potential young players from this programme will be given the opportunity to be part of the PUBC junior team in the next Malaysia Purple League season.

The Beko-PUBC Junior Foundation is a corporate sector initiative that supports the government’s vision for Malaysia towards a sporting nation. Malaysia Budget 2017 has tabled RM1.2 billion for the country’s sports development programmes which include athlete preparation programmes construction and upgrading of sports facilities, and hosting of the 29th Sea Games and the 9th Para Asean Games in Kuala Lumpur this year.
