Over 3600 children were in for a treat as MBO Cinemas and Kiwanis Malaysia came together to organise an exclusive screening of the animated feature, ‘Peter Rabbit’ across 24 MBO outlets in the country.

The ‘Kiwanis-MBO Mega Movie Treats 2.0’ is returning for the second time following the grand success of the past year which saw the event being certified as the largest simultaneous participation of underprivileged children in a movie screening by the Malaysia Book of Records.

The movie screening event in MBO Starling was graced by the presence of Kiwanis Malaysia’s royal patron, Sultanah of Pahang Sultanah Hajjah Kalsom, who joined about 150 children from Kiwanis Malaysia and JCI Malaysia for the movie. District Governor of Kiwanis Malaysia, Dr Mario Del Castillo, expressed his delight on the coming together of different organisations in creating a positive impact in the lives of underprivileged and challenged kids in Malaysia.

“We are truly honoured to be a part of this mega movie screening event that sees the participation of 33 Kiwanis Clubs, 6 JCI Malaysia chambers and 24 MBO Cinemas outlets nationwide,

“For some of the kids here, this is their first movie-going experience and it will not be something they will soon forget,” said Dr Mario. MBO’s Chief Operating Officer, Cheah Chun Wai, mentioned that the cinema chain is delighted that its rapid expansion with new cinema outlets around the country is also helping to further add value to charity events of such scale.

“With our unique offerings and brand synergy, we are always looking forward to working with welfare bodies such as Kiwanis Malaysia and to give back to the community,
“With 27 locations and 213 screens nationwide, we have the opportunity and capacity to engage better with different segments of the society through our outreach programs,” said Chun Wai.

The 24 MBO Cinemas that took part were in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Klang, Ipoh, Kuantan, Johor Baru, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Malacca, Seremban, Teluk Intan, Taiping, Alor Star, Kulim, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching
